Safari Browser for Windows
During the WWDC 2007 Keynote Address Steve Jobs announced Safari for Windows. There are several proposed reasons for this release including:
- Apple will make money whenever users perform Google searches using the integrated search feature.
- Web developers who run Windows will be able to test their iPhone "applications".
- Windows users who run Safari will become accustomed to working with Apple programs, possibly helping to sell Mac's.
One of the interesting/disturbing points Steve makes during his discussion about the Safari market share was his graphic depicting how they "dream big". How big? Well, they want Safari's market share to grow substantially. Now for the disturbing part -- the graphic that depicts "substantially" wipes out Firefox and "other" browsers, leaving Safari and Internet Explorer. That is bad, but even worse is that the graphic doesn't show them winning over any Internet Explorer users. Strange. Very strange.
Note to Apple: Have someone review the slides after the big dream ends and before the keynote to make sure they are not overly crazy.
