Beware of iPhone Terms and Conditions
With the help of a pot of coffee we were able to read through the 13 page "iPhone Terms and Conditions" document located on the AT&T web site. Some of the details were more hard to swallow than that last cup of java. Here are the biggies that you should be aware of before you use your iPhone.
Additional charges for premium messages and content apply. Messages over 300KBs billed and additional 50ยข/message.
Full 2 mega pixel camera images are approximately 700KB. While the iPhone will resize images before they are sent, you may want to send separate messages if you are emailing a lot of photos. It will be interesting to see if the iPhone warns the user whenever messages exceed 300KB.
Caller ID blocking is not available when using the Services, and your wireless number is transmitted to Internet sites you visit. You may receive unsolicited messages from third parties as a result of visiting Internet sites, and a per-message charge may apply whether the message is read or unread, solicited or unsolicited.
We love this feature! Can you see the site usability and marketing potential this has? Also, who cares how many minutes and SMS messages are used by unsolicited communications. You are going to look so popular with all your friends. Just imagine...
- No more having to manually supply your phone number to each and every site you visit!
- Extremely convenient and focused SMS based advertising -- "Welcome 714-989-xxxx! Did you know that AT&T has great voice and data packages? Check it out at wireless.att.com!
- SMS based site suggestions. "Welcome 651-260-xxxx! Be sure to check out our Sick Day Excuse Creator!"
- No more having to go through the hassle of selling your phone number to third parties. In the not to distant future this will be handled automatically by the web sites you visit!
- Reminder calls. We here at AppleHound love this one. "Hey 201-235-xxxx! Were have you been? Our site logs show it has been 2 weeks since you visited our site last. Anyway, I just wanted to give you a call to let you know what you have been missing.
- Web forms that request a phone number can be populated automatically!
- For all you web developers out there... this is the best session ID available. No more having to use cookies needed to maintain sessions! Just store visitors phone numbers in your database! Convenient and secure!
This is the ultimate in ease of use. Is there any way they could provide more personal information to the sites we visit?
We can hardly wait until our crappy cable internet service offers the same feature. Do you hear me Comcast? Get with the times already!
Unlimited voice services may not be used for conference calling, call forwarding, monitoring services, data transmissions, transmission of broadcasts, transmission of recorded material, or other connections which do not consist of uninterrupted live dialog between two individuals.
Is this a joke? Why do companies use the word "unlimited" when they really mean to say "limited" or "restricted"?
UNLIMITED PLANS CANNOT BE USED FOR UPLOADING, DOWNLOADING OR STREAMING OF VIDEO CONTENT (E.G. MOVIES, TV), MUSIC OR GAMES.
A word of caution here -- That YouTube application they include on the phone is there to entice you into breaking the acceptable use agreement! If you want to continue enjoying your iPhone avoid this application at all costs!
On the bright side, browsing the New York Times is completely acceptable.
Service may be discontinued after a significant period of inactivity or after sessions of excessive usage.
Whaaa -- excessive? What is that? The phone has not even been sold yet and they have forgotten that nearly every feature requires the use of the data network. Isn't that why they bundled the "Unlimited Data (Email/Web)" with all the iPhone plans?
Roaming: Roaming charges for data or voice service may be charged with some plans when outside the AT&T network. Display on your device will not indicate whether you will incur roaming charges.roaming usage may be delayed up to three billing cycles due to reporting between carriers.
Three billing cycles? Is this 2007 or 1977? Are these companies mailing dot matrix printouts and punch card usage reports to each other? These carriers should research the Business to Business communications methods used in today's technologically advanced marketplace.

I'm pretty sure we should stage a protest outside of the apple store. I also think we should boycott the iPhone. Who's with me?!
SS
I love the iPhone, but hate ATT. We need to get the iphone unlocked.
